1. Message of the Day

Losing Weight/Keeping House

These two have a lot in common. Both require first of all an awareness we need to make a change accompanied by a burning determination to do so. Then both require awareness of what we need to do differently. Change in the area of improving our houses requires us to wake up to "hot spots" in the house, destructive behaviors, and information on how to do the job of organizing. The good part is that improving the house is, in a way, easier than losing weight because it is less complex. Follow the guidelines given by Messies Anonymous and get the support you need to do it. When you slip, pick yourself up and start again. Slowly but surely, the house will change.

It is not easy to reach either goal. Both require the hardest of all activities for real success --- long term behavior change. But it can be done. Many formerly
messy houses, now neat, can testify to that!
Yours can change, too!

3. Habit of the Day

FOLLOW THE FOREST CAMPING RULE TODAY

Leave each area as good as you found it, or better.

4. Family Reminder of the Day

In our family, we put up toys, games, tools, and stuff we are using immediately.

In our family, we don't leave things out just because we plan to get back to the project later.

In our family, we wash, dry, fold, and put up our clothes as one continuous job.

5. Quote of the Day

Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off bow lines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore, dream, discover!

Mark Twain

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the fact that you missed out on living a normal life, spent time struggling with the problem, and could not have friends over freely. So throw off the lines that bind you to the problem and sail away from the old way of life. Be brave, set your sail, and bravely head for the order and beauty just over the horizon.

6. Question of The Day

Is there any thing, habit, or idea that you are totally unwilling to give up at this time? You want to change badly. But not at the expense of this one thing. If there were such a thing in your life, what would it be? Identifying it clearly is important for improvement.

7. From the Trenches

Limits on Pets

The other night I bought a Bissell hand held "spot scrubber" at Walmart with the Pet odor solution. SO FAR, it removes spots and smells beautifully...but I suspect it's only good for up to the minute clean, probably not so hot on older, larger problems. But, since I'm in a small apartment now and when we get home, everything will be new, it should help me keep up and not get behind. Also, my attitude toward my furbabies has changed. I love them dearly, but I will no longer allow them to make my environment a poop pile. No more 12-13 cats and how many dogs....Limits, boundaries, and hard choices ahead. But, the house smells *SO* good...

MESSIES ANONYMOUS SLOGAN

Please memorize this slogan and post it on your wall.

The secret to success is making very small, yet very consistent, changes.

Or to make it short; Baby steps, baby steps in the right direction.

Never underestimate the inevitability of gradualness.
